Hawaii County Fire Department personnel searched Tuesday for a missing man in Waipio Valley.
Rescue workers reported that the white man in his 60s was last seen at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening. He had told friends he was going to set up camp and go for a swim.
The man’s campsite was found undisturbed, according to a press release, with the missing man’s belongings “found neatly stacked” near the shoreline. No other trace of the man was found in the area.
The man was described as being of large build, wearing green shorts.
The fire department called off the search in the evening Tuesday, and was expected to resume looking for the man at first light today.
